The program of events and workshops open to the public

For The Glitch Camp campers and visitors of Milan Design Week, a program focused on togetherness and collaborative activities takes center stage.

Proposed by the Francesco Morelli Foundation, the Designing Togetherness public program has been developed by IED Milano’s Master of Arts School, guiding students through reflections on the quality and timing of spontaneous interactions. The result is a diverse program featuring workshops, sports and wellness activities, convivial moments, and cultural events, offering an interdisciplinary experience for both campers and the broader audience of Design Week.

Special Workshops at the Sports Center

The public program includes three unique workshops hosted at the “Enrico Cappelli” Sports Center by Milanosport SSD S.p.A., which accommodates The Glitch Camp:

  • Tuesday, April 8Collective Breadmaking Ritual workshop led by Terzo Paesaggio and MadreProject, School of Bread and Places with Davide Longoni.
  • Thursday, April 10Beyond Competition: Playing for Connection, an alternative sports workshop conducted by Gabriel Fontana.
  • Saturday, April 12Atelier Upcycling by Ferrino, in collaboration with Mental Athletic, focusing on repair and upcycle techniques.

Additionally, on Wednesday, April 9, the Extreme Writing: The Writing Ring will be held at the Sports Center. Organized by Centro Formazione Supereroi, this creative writing showdown features two teams competing in three rounds of literary improvisation inspired by the world of design.

Cultural Events at BASE Milano

The Designing Togetherness cultural program continues at BASE Milano on Wednesday, April 9 at 4:30 PM, with an afternoon of cultural discussions curated by Angela Rui (Head MA IED Programs) and Benedetta Marietti (Francesco Morelli Foundation Cultural Committee). Speakers include:

  • Carlo Alberto Redi (Academician of the Lincei, President of the Ethics Committee of Fondazione Umberto Veronesi) and Manuela Monti (Associate Professor of Histology and Human Embryology at Università degli Studi di Pavia), exploring the concept of CON-dividuo, a new foundation for social group dynamics and emotional well-being.
  • Gabriel Fontana (Social Designer), investigating how sports as a universal language can reshape our understanding of identity, community, and belonging.
  • Raumlaborberlin (experimental architecture collective), highlighting participatory socio-spatial alternatives that mobilize urban communities.
  • Valeria M. Mosca (cultural anthropologist specializing in ethnobotany), presenting her work on reconnecting with nature through foraging practices that enhance human-environment relationships.

A Unique Opportunity for IED Students

The development of Designing Togetherness has provided IED students with a unique opportunity to apply the DesignXCommons approach to The Glitch Camp. This narrative defines all IED Master of Arts programs and aims to make design more accessible while creating spaces for experimentation, learning, and building professional and personal connections.
